This qualification provides foundational skills for individuals starting a career in conservation and ecosystem management. Students will learn to identify and recognise local fauna, plants, landforms, and soil types. The course covers practical skills in basic ecological restoration, weed and pest treatment, and the collection and preservation of plant specimens.
Participants will also gain experience in operating basic machinery, applying chemicals under supervision, and caring for nursery plants. Emphasis is placed on working safely and sustainably within the industry, including effective workplace communication and the use of digital media for fieldwork. This certificate prepares students for entry-level roles in areas such as Indigenous land management, parks and wildlife services, and ecosystem restoration projects.
